Our School Family
Does one have to be an Adventist to enroll a student at Cypress School? The answer is NO.
In recent years about 40% of our students come from belief systems other than Adventist. We believe that God’s love extends to all of his children and that his family on earth is made up of a large tent of people. While we don’t hide the unique things that make us Adventist, we don’t believe in forcing others to believe the way that we do.
Christian Teaching and Philosophy
Our religious values and Bible curriculum are centered in the historic Judeo-Christian faith tradition found in the Scriptures. Students in lower grades study Bible heroes and learn Bible memory verses. Upper grade religion classes focus on a literature-based approach to studying the Bible. Students study both Old and New Testament Bible Books and themes in their whole literary context.
We have school wide chapel every Friday. Classes take turns leading in songs, praise, and prayer. A local area pastor or one of our teachers shares a short story or experience. This weekly event helps create a spiritually inclusive family feel on our campus. We experience great joy in praising God together.
Cypress Curriculum
Cypress Adventist School uses a multi-age curriculum based on two or three grades per classroom. Our goal is to become a community of learners working together to make sure the individual grows. Students often work in teams (large or small) on projects or assignments.
We want to enable students to become lifelong learners and help them to discover tools for finding information and answers for themselves.
About our Teachers
Teachers at Cypress Adventist School are well prepared. All Cypress teachers have completed a rigorous dual certification process having certification from Washington State and by the North American Division of Seventh-Day Adventist Office of Education.
